Skookum, Whitewall earn Washington Beer Awards

Arlington’s Skookum Brewery brought home a pair of silver medals and Marysville’s Whitewall Brewing brought home a silver as well from the Washington Brewers Festival last weekend.

Skookum took second in the Robust Porter and American Amber Ale categories, with its Skookum Porter and Amber’s Hot Friend, respectively. Reuben’s Brews’ porter and Woodinville’s Twelve String Brewing’s Crescendo Series Valley Red were named the winners in over Skookum.

Whitewall’s Sassy Lassie took second to Menace Brewing’s Self-titled Irish red in the Irish Red Ales category.

Ballard’s Reuben’s Brews won the most awards, taking home three gold and two silvers from the competition, and earning the Mid-Size Brewery of the Year award. Besides the robust porter, Reuben’s won gold for its Foreign Export Stout and Black Imperial IPA.

Olympia’s Fish Brewing Company (three gold and one silver) was named Large Brewery of the Year and Puyallup River Brewing (one gold and two silver) earned Small Brewery of the Year.

Poulsbo’s Sound Brewery won three golds for its Ursus Spelaeus (in the Belgo-American &International Ales category), Bombshell (Belgian) and Dubbel Entendre (Abbey-inspired).
