Ooh-Ahh: Free pyrotechnics in Monroe
Skywizard and Wolverine West present their annual free pyro-musical, featuring a fully choreographed “Music of the Night,” starting at dusk Saturday at Monroe River Valley Farm, 19829 168th St. SE, Monroe. Parking is limited so plan to arrive early. Food and beverages will be available for purchase at Paula’s Wine Knot.

Read: Books on the Bus in Arlington
Arlington School District staff hit the road for “Books on the Bus” this summer, a program aimed at elementary-age students. The big yellow bookmobile will travel throughout the Arlington community and stop at various locations each Wednesday through Aug. 19. Students will be given a book bag and can check out books throughout the summer. Staff also will read to children.
Stops for the book bus each Wednesday:
*9-9:45 a.m. Twin Ponds apartment complex
*10-10:45 a.m. Presidents Elementary School
*11-11:45 a.m. Bryant Community Church
*12:45-1:30 p.m. Silvana Peace Lutheran Church
*2-2:45 p.m. High Clover development (next to basketball court)
*3-3:45 p.m. 67th Street Mobile Estates

Prep: Kindergarten readiness in Mukilteo
“Ready for Kindergarten” will be offered 6:30-7:30 p.m. Wednesdays, July 1 to Aug. 12, at the Mukilteo Library, 4675 Harbour Pointe Blvd. The parent-child program will focus on basic knowledge and skills, such as identifying shapes and letters, counting to 100, using scissors and taking turns.
At the end of each program, children also will practice going through the “lunch line” for a light meal. Parents stay for the whole hour-long program.
Space is limited and registration is required at www.sno-isle.org. The program is free.

Rent: A how-to in Marysville
“Leaving the Nest: Housing Rental for Beginners” will be held at 2 p.m. July 6 at the Marysville Library, 6120 Grove St.
The free program features housing specialists from the Volunteers of America Dispute Resolution Center. Learn about landlord-tenant rights and responsibilities, fair housing, what landlords screen for and conflict resolution skills to help stabilize housing and minimize evictions.
