Kenmore man drowns in Snohomish River

SNOHOMISH — A 21-year-old Kenmore man drowned Monday while swimming in the Snohomish River.

Witnesses reported that he went under the water about 4 p.m. and didn’t resurface. He was pulled from the water more than 30 minutes later. He was found in a part of the river about 20 feet deep, according to the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office. Resuscitation efforts were not successful.

The incident happened along a stretch of river near Short School Road, between Snohomish and Monroe.

The man’s name was not released Monday.
