Monroe police proposal may or may not happen

So is Monroe going to make a serious, here’s-the-deal offer to contract for police services in Snohomish?

Monroe hadn’t submitted a formal proposal as of Thursday afternoon, Monroe Police Chief Tim Quenzer said.

When he last talked to Snohomish city leaders, his offer wasn’t about providing permanent police services in the town to the west, he said. Instead, he thought about Monroe police providing administrative oversight in Snohomish for a couple of years until the budget was in better shape.

If Snohomish asks for a proposal, Monroe likely will submit one, he said. Monroe would need additional facts and figures from Snohomish to do that.

If Monroe had those figures, a proposal wouldn’t take long to prepare, Quenzer said.
