MARYSVILLE — The Marysville Family YMCA wants families to plan a playdate Saturday.
Healthy Kids Day, the YMCA’s national initiative to improve the health of kids and families, is scheduled fr
om 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Marysville YMCA and the four other branches in Snohomish County.
Free family games, activities, demonstrations and health screenings are planned at the Everett, Marysville, Mill Creek, Monroe and Mukilteo YMCAs. Specific activities and events offered that day vary by branch.
Balloon art, Zumba, break dancers, juggling and a guide dog demonstration are some of the activities planned during the event at the Marysville Family YMCA. The day is also set to include a community fair where families can receive nutrition information, water safety tips and vision screening. A pitching machine, train rides and a bouncy house are also scheduled to be in the YMCA parking lot at 6420 60th Drive NE during the event.
The American Cancer Society Relay for Life, Camp Fire, Marysville police and fire departments, the Marysville School District, the Marysville Rotary Club, and Naval Station Everett are some of the groups set to be part of the day’s activities.
Marysville Family YMCA has hosted a Healthy Kids Day event since 1995, said Caroline Brown, health and wellness director.
“We usually get a very good community response,” she said. “We’ve had upward of 600 people come. It’s a very busy day.”
