MONROE — A woman was arrested for investigation of vehicular assault after her car collided with another vehicle and crashed into a yellow post Friday in Monroe.

The driver’s friend, 22, was in the passenger seat at the time. She was taken to the hospital with a cut to her head, police said.

The young woman, who turned 19 last month, was driving through a Fred Meyer parking lot in the 18800 block of U.S. 2. Her 1998 Honda Accord struck another vehicle around 10:40 p.m., according to a probable cause affidavit. Witnesses said she tried to drive away, but ended up striking a pole.

Her friend reportedly hit her head on the window during the collision.

The suspect told an officer her power steering “went out,” according to court papers. The officer had noticed the smell of intoxicants. The suspect’s blood-alcohol content was measured at .11. The legal limit is .08.

She was arrested for investigation of vehicular assault, hit-and-run and driving with a suspended license.
