ARLINGTON — Presidents Elementary School was in lockdown all day Monday, as police investigated an employee of the school district who was accused of making threats.

The lockdown began around the time classes started at 9 a.m. Monday, Arlington School District spokesman Gary Sabol said. No details have been released about the nature of the threats, or who was targeted.

“Arlington Police are investigating an incident at Presidents Elementary,” police posted on Facebook at 12:30 p.m. “As a precaution, Presidents Elementary has been placed in modified lock down. All students and staff are safe.”

Classes continued as usual, but visitors’ access was limited, at the request of police. The lockdown ended when classes were released, Sabol said.

Arlington police announced they’d arrested a suspect around 4:40 p.m.

So far authorities have not said what kind of job the employee held.
