Edmonds Gateway Sign

After three committee meetings and one open house, things are moving ahead with replacing the aging gateway sign for downtown Edmonds. The next open house is 6 p.m. Feb. 11 in the Edmonds Plaza Room, 650 Main St. Three new concepts for the gateway sign will be presented.

Mountaineers open house

The Everett Mountaineers annual “Spring Course Night” is at 7 p.m. Feb. 6 at the Snohomish County PUD Building, 2320 California St., Everett. There will be presentations about upcoming courses on alpine scrambling, hiking, lookout and trail maintenance, navigation, sea kayaking and wilderness first aid.

Random crafts of kindness

Get creative at the library and learn new ways to spread kindness to friends and strangers in a craft session from 3 to 5 p.m. Feb. 12, Mukilteo Library, 4675 Harbour Pointe Blvd. Supplies are provided. Bring a friend and see how you can make the world a kinder place. For grades 6 to 12.

The Paddle Pilgrim

Marysville’s Outdoor Adventure Speaker Series talk “Kayaking the Fjords of Norway” by Dave Ellingson is 6:30 p.m. Feb. 12 at Marysville Opera House, 1225 Third St., Marysville. Ellingson’s monthlong kayak expedition to his ancestral Sogne and Hardanger fjords in Norway included 24-hour daylight, battling big waves bouncing off 1,500-foot cliffs and terror when a rudder broke and ice water filled his kayak. Cost is $5.

HEADS UP

Camp Fire candy is here

Mints, Caramel Clusters, Almond Roca, and P’Nuttles are back this month as Camp Fire kids and parents set out around the county for their annual candy sale. Boxes of candy are $5. Camp Fire kids earn credit based on how much candy they sell and can pay for a week at Camp Killoqua by selling a certain amount. The sale continues through Feb. 18.
