Medication disposal
People around the state can safely dispose of their unused medications during events Saturday.
The Drug Enforcement Administration will be hosting drug take-back events from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at locations statewide, with a few dozen sites in Snohomish County. Prescription and over-the-counter medications will be accepted. Medications can remain in their original containers and labels do not need to be removed. Medications not in original containers also will be accepted.

Mystery meeting
The Friends of the Edmonds Library October membership meeting is 6:30 p.m. Thursday , Library Plaza Room, 650 Main St.
Topic is “It’s a mystery to me!” Three local writers talk about writing mysteries. Erica Miner, Alice K. Boatwright and Curt Colbert will discuss their latest mysteries and how they go about writing a story you can’t put down until you know “who done it.” There will be time for questions and an opportunity to purchase their books. Social time starts at 6 p.m.

Interactive Literary Journey
Want to honor your favorite books by making fun of them? Everett Improv is coming to help. You supply the literary inspiration and they supply a hilarious homage. The event is at 2 p.m. Nov. 2 at the Everett Public Library auditorium, 2702 Hoyt Ave. Free and for all ages.

Veterans dance
A dance honoring veterans, ages 50 and older, featuring the 16-piece swing band Route 66, with special Veterans Day ceremonies, food and refreshments is 1 to 5 p.m. Nov. 11, Cascade View Hall, 3025 Lombard Ave., Everett.

Folk dance
Community Holiday Folk Dance with music from Folk Voice Band will be presented by Sno-King dancers and Northwest Folkdancers Inc. from 7 to 10 p.m. Nov. 23 at Cedar Valley Grange, 20526 52nd Ave. W., Lynnwood.
This will be a big event with members from several international folk dance clubs participating. There will be couple, set and no-partner dances from many countries. No need to bring a partner. Bring potluck finger-foods and wear a costume. Donation $8.

HEADS UP
Lunchtime at Mukilteo City Hall
Through Dec. 31, Mukilteo City Hall, 11930 Cyrus Way, will remain closed during the lunch hour, noon to 1 p.m. The lunchtime closure is necessitated by staffing limitations caused, in part, by a recent staff vacancy.
Hours are 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. (closed noon to 1 p.m.) Monday through Thursday; and 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (closed noon to 1 p.m.) Friday.
Public hours at other city buildings, including Rosehill Community Center and the Mukilteo Police Station, remain unchanged.
