The Lake Stevens, Snohomish and Arlington high school volleyball teams are headed to Yakima for their respective state tournaments.

Wesco 4A champion Lake Stevens (16-1) clinched its fourth consecutive state berth last week with a sweep of Mount Si in the Class 4A Wes-King Bi-District semifinals, then beat North Creek in five sets to claim the bi-district title.

Snohomish (14-3) earned its third consecutive state trip last week with a sweep of Oak Harbor in the 3A Northwest District semifinals. The Panthers then fell in straight sets to Ferndale in the district title match.

Wesco 3A/2A champion Arlington (17-1) suffered its first loss of the season in a four-set district semifinal defeat to Ferndale, but rebounded with sweeps of Shorecrest and Oak Harbor to earn its third state berth in program history.

Lake Stevens, Snohomish and Arlington each open their respective state tournaments with first-round matches Friday morning in the Yakima Valley SunDome.

The other five local state-qualifying girls soccer teams each lost their first-round contests.

In the opening round of the 4A state tournament, Wesco 4A champion Glacier Peak was eliminated with a 2-1 loss to Sumner and Lake Stevens fell in penalty kicks to Union.

In the first round of the 3A state tournament, Snohomish lost 4-1 to Lake Washington and Marysville Getchell fell 2-0 to Mountain View.

In the 1A state tournament, South Whidbey’s season ended with a penalty-kick loss to Tenino in the opening round.
