MONROE — A Monroe police officer on a motorcycle was injured in a crash with a suspected drunken driver Tuesday afternoon on U.S. 2.

A Subaru station wagon rear-ended the police motorcycle at 3:18 p.m. at the highway’s intersection with Lewis Street, according to the Monroe Police Department.

An ambulance took the officer to EvergreenHealth Monroe with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

The hospital is about a mile east of the crash scene.

The Washington State Patrol arrested the other driver, 35, of Monroe, for investigation of DUI, police said.

Traffic was briefly blocked in both directions. Eastbound traffic was detoured for an investigation into the evening.
