4A STATE TOURNAMENT

At Yakima Valley SunDome

First Round

West Valley (Yakima) 3, Lake Stevens 2

YAKIMA — Third-ranked Lake Stevens was upset by No. 14 West Valley (Yakima) in a first-round, five-set thriller by scores of 25-15, 18-25, 26-28, 25-18 and 15-8 on Friday morning.

Lake Stevens fell into the seventh/eighth consolation bracket and will face No. 6 Wenatchee later Friday evening.

Graham-Kapowsin 3, Jackson 0

YAKIMA — Thirteenth-seed Jackson fell in straight sets to Graham-Kapowsin by scores of 25-16, 25-13 and 25-9 on Friday.

Jackson fell into the seventh/eighth consolation bracket and will face No. 12 North Creek later Friday evening.

7th/8th Consolation Bracket

North Creek 3, Jackson 0

YAKIMA — Thirteenth-seed Jackson was swept by No. 12 North Creek by scores of 26-24, 25-17 and 25-21 in a state consolation game late Friday evening.

Jackson went 0-2 on the day and finished its season with a 13-9 overall record.

Lake Stevens 3, Wenatchee 2

YAKIMA — Third-seed Lake Stevens advanced to Day 2 of the 4A state tournament with a thrilling 22-25, 25-12, 14-25, 25-16, 15-10 win over No. 6 Wenatchee late Friday night.

Lake Stevens will face No. 10 Kamiakin in the seventh/eighth-place consolation semfinals at 11:45 a.m. on Friday

3A STATE TOURNAMENT

5th/6th Consolation Bracket

Arlington 3, Bellevue 1

YAKIMA — Eleventh-seed Arlington beat No. 7 Bellevue by scores of 25-23, 25-22, 23-25 and 25-21 to reach the fifth/sixth place game of the 3A state tournament on Friday.

Arlington will face No. 5 Mt. Spokane in the fifth/sixth place game later Friday evening.

5th/6th-Place Match

Mt. Spokane 3, Arlington 1

YAKIMA — Eleventh-seed Arlington fell to No. 5 Mt. Spokane in the fifth/sixth-place match of the 3A state tournament on Friday night.

Mt. Spokane won by scores of 22-25, 25-21, 25-22 and 25-17.

Arlington capped a strong overall season with a 20-5 record and a sixth-place state trophy.
