Everett man dies after being hit by car in Island County

COUPEVILLE — An Everett man died Wednesday after a driver hit him in Island County, police say.

Around 9 a.m., Jacob Weigert, 23, tried to run across Highway 20 from west to east toward a bus stop near the 19700 block, according to Washington State Patrol. As he ran, a 60-year-old Coupeville man in a south-bound Volkswagen Jetta hit him.

Weigert was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, where he later died, according to a news release.
