Brake fault causes morning light rail delays

LYNNWOOD — Link trains on the 1 Line ran slow Wednesday as Sound Transit dealt with mechanical issues, according to the agency.
Trains were briefly delayed as crews worked to repair a “brake fault” on a train at the University of Washington Station. During the delay, trains ran on one track between Roosevelt and the UW, Sound Transit spokesperson John Gallagher wrote in an email. Service on both tracks was restored shortly before 9:30 a.m. Wednesday morning. Delays of up to 30 minutes were reported.
Single-tracking also occurred between those two stations on Tuesday night, prompting a Sound Transit tweet asking for commuters to allow more time to get to Tuesday night’s Mariners game.
