Thrill: Show jumping at Monroe horse arena: Join the Washington State Hunter Jumper Association and 4-H to watch professional show jumpers and their horses compete for a $10,000 prize at the Spring National Grand Prix, 6:30 p.m. Saturday at the Evergreen State Fairgrounds equestrian park, 14405 179th Ave. SE in Monroe.

Jumper competition is all about speed and “clean” rounds where the horses and riders jump a course of 10-16 obstacles, the winner determined by the shortest time and fewest faults. At the Grand Prix level, obstacles may be up to 6.5 feet high.

General admission $5, $3 for youth and seniors, and children younger than 5 are free. Proceeds benefit local 4-H youth. Tickets available at the door.

Celebrate: Street fair honors Earth Day: Sno-Isle Food Co-op in Everett holds a free, family-friendly street fair to celebrate Earth Day, with crafts, activities, music and more, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. April 22 at 2804 Grand Ave.

A benefit concert for Climate Solutions follows from 6-9 p.m. at The Austin, 2820 Oakes Ave.

Tune: Learn basic bike mechanics: Sharing Wheels offers a “Basic Bike Mechanics” class, 6-9:30 p.m. April 23, that will cover basic bicycle care, flat tire repair, brake adjustment and pad replacement, and derailleur shifting and adjustments.

Bring your own bike, or use one of the nonprofit’s. All tools provided. Cost is $35 and is due ahead of class. To register, call 425-252-6952 or drop by the shop at 2525 Broadway in Everett.

Other basic classes will be held May 28 and June 25. “Advanced Bike Mechanics” ($100) will be held in three-day sessions April 30 (and May 7 and 14) and July 9 (and 16 and 23).

Watch: Skaters show winning wheels: The Everett Eagles Skating team will hold a Spring Exhibition and fundraiser, 4:30-6 p.m. April 24 at the Everett Skate Deck, 9700 19th Ave. SE.

Coach Ezra Thompson, who was a nationally ranked skater and grew up in the area, leads this team of 12 roller figure skaters ages 7-15. Last year, two skaters qualified for a national tournament in freestyle, figures and pairs events. They anticipate sending skaters again to this year’s USA Figure Skating Nationals. Donations will be taken at the event to help the team fund the trip to Lincoln, Neb.
