Arlington Mayor: Vanney a man of values, integrity

Over the last 50-plus years I’ve lived both within Arlington’s city limits and outside. Currently I live outside so I won’t have the opportunity to vote for the position of Arlington mayor. If I could, I would most assuredly vote for Don Vanney.

He is a man of values, integrity, honesty and knowledge, with a drive and desire to make our city a place where anyone would be proud to raise a family and live.

I realize all towns grow and for the most part its citizens have no choice but to be flexible. We have been flexible, but there comes a time when we have to wonder if it’s truly for the good of our community or rather the ruination of it. I lean toward the one candidate who listens to the people, the one who will seek the will of the majority and the one who sees fit to put our city above their own desires.

I am not impressed how many endorsements Mayor Barb Tolbert receives from others in the political arena or from biased news articles. Those supporters do not live here; this is not their hometown; they don’t have to deal with the repercussions.

What does impress me are the community members, business owners, community leaders, city workers and the rest who live and work here who desire change and a new direction.
