“How to Train Your Dragon”

An 11-year-old Viking must train a dragon in this animated adventure. Satisfying both kids and adults isn’t easy, but “How to Train Your Dragon” hits the mark with the right mix of silly and serious.

Toss in dazzling computer-generated animation and a perfect score by composer John Powell, and this is the best from DreamWorks since “Shrek” in 2001.

Grade: A-

“Jonah Hex”

Scarred bounty hunter (Josh Brolin) must stop a post-Civil War terrorist. Megan Fox co-stars.

In a plot that feels like it was originally planned for “The Wild, Wild West 2,” Hex must stop a terrorist from leveling Washington, D.C., with a massive new weapon. The film has more problems than its tormented central character.

Grade: D

“Dollhouse: Season 2”

The Fox TV series deals with a company where people are stripped of their personalities and given the traits they need to deal with specific client requests.

The central living “doll” is Echo (Eliza Dushku), who is starting to realize she is more than a blank canvas.

This series from Joss Whedon (“Buffy the Vampire Slayer”) never built a big enough following to survive.

Grade: B-
