Four award-winning authors to talk about books at Everett event

The quartet will be featured at “An Evening with NW Authors” on Oct. 12 in Everett.

Book lovers will get a rare treat next week in Everett.

Four acclaimed authors will talk about their works and what inspired them at 7 p.m. Oct. 12 at Snohomish County PUD Auditorium, 2320 California St., Everett. The event, “An Evening with NW Authors,” is a fundraiser for the Everett chapter of the PEO Sisterhood, a nonprofit that helps women pursue educational goals.

The authors are Rebecca Huycke Ellison, Elizabeth George, Sarah Marsh and Rena Priest.

Ellison, an Everett resident and member of the chapter, edited Capt. Daniel Killman’s “Forty Years Master: A Life in Sail and Steam.” The book, which took nearly 40 years to finish, won the Karl Kortum Award for Maritime History in 2013 and a John Lyman Book Award in 2016.

George, of Seattle, is the author of 20 bestselling British crime novels. Her works were adapted for a BBC television series, “The Inspector Lynley Mysteries,” which ran from 2001 to 2008. She is also the author of a young adult series set on Whidbey Island called “The Edge of Nowhere.”

Marsh is an award-winning children’s nonfiction author from Seattle. Her 2018 book, “Thomas Paine and the Dangerous Word,” was named 2019 Bank Street Best Children’s Book of the Year and National Council of the Social Studies Notable Book of 2019.

Priest, of Bellingham, won an American Book Award for her debut work, “Patriarchy Blues,” a collection of poems about her observations on life. Her most recent book, “Sublime Subliminal,” was a finalist for the Floating Bridge Press Chapbook Award.

Tickets are $15, cash or check, or $16 if paying by credit card. Ticket sales at the door may be limited. Order tickets in advance by calling 425-367-3014 or emailing peobookevent@gmail.com.

The authors’ books also will be available for purchase.
