The Mountlake Terrace High School Jazz Band was selected to compete in this year’s Essentially Ellington national competition, said Darin Foul, the school’s band director.
The competition brings high school bands to New York’s Jazz at Lincoln Center to perform.
Two other schools from Western Washington will compete, according to the Seattle Times. Roosevelt High School and Ballard High School, which enters the final 15 for the first time.
The competition is scheduled for the beginning of May.
