“Lost & Found”: Director Joseph Itaya, a grad of South Whidbey High School, wrote, directed and produced this award-winning independent feature film. It opens locally Jan. 6 at AMC Alderwood 16, 18733 33rd Ave. W, Lynnwood. Sent to spend the summer with their uncle on an island, two brothers discover that their eccentric grandfather once owned the island, but vanished without a trace, taking with him the secret to a vast fortune. “Princess Mononoke” — 20th anniversary showing: 7 p.m. Jan. 9 (English-dubbed) at the Alderwood 7 theaters, 3501 184th St. SW, Lynnwood. The classic animated historical fantasy film from writer/director Hayao Miyazaki.

Reel World Cinema: The winter series in Calvin Lounge at First Presbyterian Church, 2936 Rockefeller Ave., Everett, focuses on events in the lives of scientists that have theological implications. At 7 p.m. Jan. 13, see the 2009 movie “Creation” with Paul Bettany and Jennifer Connelly as Charles and Emma Darwin. Potluck at 6 p.m. Discussion follows the movie.

Sno-King Meaningful Movies: “A Fierce Green Fire — The Battle for a Living Planet” shows at 7 p.m. Jan. 14, Edmonds Unitarian Universalist, 8109 224th St. SW. Free. Donations accepted. Big-picture exploration of the environmental movement. Discussion follows.

“Meru”: Historic Everett Theatre’s Sundance Movie and Wine Night is 7 p.m. Jan. 18 at the theater, 2911 Colby Ave. Call 425-258-6766. In the high-stakes game of big-wall climbing, the Shark’s Fin on Mount Meru may be the ultimate prize. Sitting at the headwaters of the sacred Ganges River in Northern India, the Shark’s Fin has seen more failed attempts by elite climbing teams over the past 30 years than any other ascent in the Himalayas.

Twisted Flicks: The Historic Everett Theatre hosts the region’s only live movie re-dubbing show, which merges improv comedy and old B movies. The Twisted Flicks guys from Jet City Improv will riff on “The Blob” at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 21 at the theater, 2911 Colby Ave. Call 425-258-6766.
