EVERETT — Gunfire sent three people to the hospital after a fight outside an Everett nightclub early Tuesday morning.
No arrests had been made as of Tuesday evening.
Everett police Sgt. Robert Goetz said officers responded to Club Broadway, 1611 Everett Ave., about 2 a.m. Tuesday
and found the victims, wounded in the legs and feet. Each was hit by a single gunshot.
“We don’t know if these three were targeted or not,” Goetz said.
The victims are a Stanwood woman, 23; a Lynnwood man, 28; and an Arlington man, 26. The two men share the same last name. If and how they are related wasn’t immediately known, Goetz said.
All were taken to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett with what are considered injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening.
Police went to the nightclub after receiving a report of a fight.
As they arrived, one of the patrol officers heard shots fired, Goetz said.
“They also saw people running from the area of Colby Avenue and Everett Avenue along with several vehicles leaving the scene at a high rate of speed,” Goetz said.
A white sport utility vehicle was one of the vehicles that was stopped a few blocks away. Two men in that car were detained for questioning and later released, Goetz said.
A third man was arrested for obstructing, but is not considered a suspect in the shootings, Goetz said.
“He was doing things at the scene that were preventing our officers from helping those people who had been wounded,” Goetz said.
The 31-year-old Mill Creek man grew “very angry,” Goetz said. He stood about 15 feet away and yelled profanities at the officers saying that they were not doing anything to help.
The suspect was asked to leave but refused.
“He used more profanity and began dancing around in the middle of Colby Avenue,” Goetz said.
He was eventually taken into custody and found to be in possession of a handgun. His concealed weapons permit had expired, and he was arrested and booked into the Snohomish County Jail for investigation of carrying a concealed pistol and obstruction.
Investigators from the Major Crimes Unit spent several hours at the shooting scene.
“We have witness statements,” Goetz said. “We are still trying to evaluate those witness statements and see if there is any information that might help us develop some leads in this case.”
Detectives need to review the witness statements before police can provide any suspect information.
“Part of the challenge we have is taking these witness statements and verifying the information before we put something out,” Goetz said.
