Stanwood: School bus route changes

The Stanwood-Camano School District has had to reduce bus transportation for some students because of state budget cuts and declining enrollment.

One change will be on middle and high school routes. The district will no longer pick up those students who live within a mile of the school where sidewalks and crosswalks are available.

Middle and high school students living on dead-end roads that are less than a mile long will need to meet the bus at the main road.

Routes No. 2 and No. 12 affecting Elger Bay and Utsalady Elementary schools have turnarounds that are one and two blocks from the main road. Those turnarounds will be eliminated and students will meet the bus at the main road.
