AUBURN — The owner of an adult family home in Auburn, Washington, has been arrested on allegations he mistreated a 69-year-old man in his care.
Washington state Attorney General Bob Ferguson says Alfredo Tia was charged with second-degree criminal mistreatment in King County Superior Court.
Tia was the owner and care provider at Joportia Adult Family Home. The victim lived at the home for about six months until he was hospitalized in January for several pressure ulcers. A social worker at the hospital reported suspected abuse.
Tia was arrested Wednesday at Seattle-International Airport. Records show he was booked into King County Jail.
The attorney general’s office says Tia had left the country as the state was closing the home in January.
The office’s Medicaid fraud unit investigated.
