LAKE STEVENS — Highway 9 travelers through Lake Stevens should plan other routes or prepare for delays for a week starting Wednesday night.
Construction crews contracted by the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) need another weeklong full closure between Highway 204 and Lundeen Parkway. They’re set to remove pavement, build the multi-lane roundabout at the intersection of highways 9 and 204, finish drainage work and install new signs, according to WSDOT.
It requires a full highway closure from 9 p.m. Wednesday until 5 a.m. Wednesday, June 28.
A detour is planned along Lundeen Parkway and Market Place.
Rain could force the work and road closure to be rescheduled.
People can still reach businesses along the stretch by using the new roundabout at Highway 9 and Davies and Vernon roads.
Once the roundabout at highways 9 and 204 is built, people can reach both directly from Frontier Village. The current configuration requires people to go north or south then back to the intersection. The remaining work includes lighting and striping, which is planned to occur during evening lane reductions.
