Blown transformer fells trees, cutting power to some Everett homes

EVERETT — A power transformer blew around 6 p.m. near the Everett Golf and Country Club.
Trees fell on power lines on the 5100 block of Alta Drive, sending a power surge to Everett Fire Station 1 and surrounding homes, Battalion Chief Steve Parker said Thursday.
Some power lines are down, but the Snohomish County PUD was en route around 6:30 p.m. It is unclear when power will be back on in the area.
