GRANITE FALLS — Authorities have recovered the body of a King County woman who went missing last month near Heather Lake.
Jane Tang, 61, told her family she was going to a state park on March 2, police said. That was the last anyone heard from her.
Shortly afterward, search and rescue teams found her car at the Heather Lake trailhead off Mountain Loop Highway. After the car was found, Snohomish County crews took over the search.
Search operations were difficult due to snowy conditions, sheriff’s office spokesperson Courtney O’Keefe said.
On March 30, after about four weeks of searching, Snohomish County search teams found Tang’s body, according to the sheriff’s office.
The sheriff’s office said it didn’t immediately release information about the recovery of the remains, because investigators were unsure if Tang was on a hike or if a mental health incident led to her disappearance.
If it was the latter, the sheriff’s office does not typically release public information in such cases, O’Keefe said.
The official cause and manner of death were pending this week, according to the Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office.
