A car fire forced emergency officials to close southbound I-405 for about 10 minutes during the Wednesday morning commute.
Around 9 a.m., an Everett woman, 50, and her teenage daughter smelled gas in the minivan they were driving and pulled over on the shoulder near Canyon Park, Washington State Patrol trooper Keith Leary said.
Several people stopped to help and five fire extinguishers were used, but the flames were too hot, Leary said.
Fire officials arrived and doused the flames. No one was hurt.
It’s not clear what caused the gas leak that likely sparked the blaze.
