BOTHELL — Deputies shot a 29-year-old man in an apartment north of Bothell during a domestic violence call on Wednesday night, investigators say.
Around 10:20 p.m., deputies arrived at a complex in the 20000 block of Bothell Everett Highway, according to a press release from the Snohomish County Multiple Agency Response Team sent Thursday morning. The team of detectives, known as SMART, is brought in to investigate police use of force.
Deputies found a man, 29, barricaded in an apartment holding a woman, 56, and a child against their will, according to SMART investigators.
Two deputies entered the apartment and struck the man with a Taser. The suspect “charged at deputies with a weapon,” prompting a second officer to shoot him, the press release read.
The injured man was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. He was expected to survive, investigators said.
The deputies have not been publicly identified.
“The involved officers have been placed on paid administrative leave, which is standard procedure,” sheriff’s spokesperson Courtney O’Keefe said Thursday morning. “We cannot comment on the incident itself.”
It remained an active investigation Thursday.
