EDMONDS — Police served a search warrant across from Sherwood Elementary School on Thursday morning, sending the school into a precautionary lockdown for less than an hour.
Just after 7 a.m. Thursday, officers were serving a warrant at a location on 106th Avenue across from the school. When police realized an early morning daycare was in session, they notified the Edmonds School District, said Edmonds Police Cmdr. Josh McClure.
The district ordered the school into a precautionary lockdown, which was lifted shortly before 8 a.m. Thursday.
“Unfortunately the location was across from a school, which is something we can’t control,” McClure said.
The warrant was in connection with a stolen work van from an electric company, including $15,000 worth of tools. As a result of the warrant, the department’s Problem-Solving Emphasis Team recovered over $10,000 of stolen property, police said on social media.
A 40-year-old Edmonds man was booked into Snohomish County Jail on investigation of burglary and possession of stolen goods, police said. Others may be arrested or charged as the investigation continues.
