EVERETT — Less than two hours after the stabbing of a 13-year-old boy on Thursday, a man later identified by police as a person of interest in the case was booked into Snohomish County Jail on an unrelated charge.
Before police could identify Andrew Freeman as a person of interest in the case, he was released the next day from jail.
Everett police spokesperson Natalie Given confirmed the timing of Freeman’s booking and release.
On Sunday night, Everett police publicly identified Freeman as a person of interest in connection with the stabbing in Everett on Thursday morning.
Around 8 a.m. Thursday, police responded to a report of a stabbing near the 2500 block of Broadway in Everett.
Everett Fire transported the victim to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett where, as of Thursday, the male teen was said to be in stable condition with stab wounds.
Hours later, police released a description of a person of interest without naming Freeman by name.
On Sunday night, police identified Freeman as a person of interest.
Jail records show Freeman was booked into Snohomish County Jail on Thursday at 9:21 a.m. on investigation of a controlled substance charge.
After a hearing in Everett Municipal Court on Friday, Freeman was released from jail 2:17 p.m. Friday.
If seen, police warn to NOT approach and to call 911 immediately.
