Fatal crash closes southbound I-5 from Marysville to Everett

EVERETT — Two drivers collided and one person died Monday morning on southbound I-5 near the Snohomish River Bridge.

Around 5 a.m., an Everett woman driving a Honda Odyssey passed a semitrailer. The minivan hit the guardrail on the right side then struck the semi, according to the Washington State Patrol.

She died. A passenger in that car was not injured.

The State Patrol was investigating what caused the crash.

Traffic was backed up significantly as the southbound lanes were closed until 9:30 a.m.
