Learn the basics of getting started with vegetable gardening: what grows well in our climate, site selection, basics of a good soil foundation, soil testing, composting, mulching, crop rotation, and how to plan and prepare your garden for success.
The event, sponsored by Snohomish County Washington State University Extension and Master Gardeners, starts at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Granite Falls Library, 815 Galena St., Granite Falls.
Sultan High School music students and the Music Parents Association have planned a jazz dinner club event at 6:30 p.m. Saturday.
The dinner features beef bourguignon, salad, pasta, seasonal vegetables, bread from The Essential Baking Co. and Sky River Bakery’s lemon mousse with shortbread cookies.
Tickets are $20 at the Sultan Visitor Information Center, 320 Main St.
Rebecca Ripley will lead a discussion of the book “Three Cups of Tea: One Man’s Mission to Promote Peace … One School at a Time” by Greg Mortenson and David Oliver Relin at 7 p.m. Thursday.
Talk about the book at the Mill Creek Library, 15429 Bothell-Everett Highway, Mill Creek.
Marysville Middle School hosts a multicultural event from 5 to 7 p.m. today in the cafeteria, 4923 67th St. NE, Marysville.
The event is scheduled to feature food, music, dancers and guest speakers representing a variety of cultures. This event is free.
