EvCC offers tuition aid for next quarter

Everett Community College is offering state grants worth up to $3,500 for low- income adults who want to attend college this winter quarter.

Winter classes begin Jan. 7.

Grants are available for students studying advanced manufacturing-aerospace, accounting or EvCC’s new tribal enterprise management program, which prepares students for a job in the hospitality industry.

Fire district promotes safety

Snohomish County Fire District 3 continues its fire safety awareness program, Keep the Wreath Green.

The Monroe fire district will have wreaths hanging on the outside of its two fire stations through Jan. 3. The wreaths are decorated with green lights. One white light will honor firefighter line-of-duty deaths across the country. To remind citizens of the dangers posed by fire, firefighters will replace a green light bulb with a red one each time they respond to a residential fire.

Explore the stars at planetarium

The Pacific Science Center’s traveling planetarium is scheduled to be at the Stanwood Library at 2 p.m. Thursday.

Inside an inflatable dome, participants can view the moon, the stars and deep-space objects. The exhibit is best for children 5 and older.

Library offers puppet show

Children can watch a marionette show of the “The Shoemaker and the Elf” at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Lynnwood Library, 19200 44th Ave. W. The event has been planned by Friends of the Lynnwood Library.

Winter fun at Oak Harbor library

Jugglers are set to entertain at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Oak Harbor Library, 1000 SE Regatta Drive, Oak Harbor.

Juggling comedians spear vegetables in midair and juggle with their feet. The program is funded by Friends of the Oak Harbor Library.
