Good Samaritan stole woman’s purse, police say

EVERETT – Police are looking for a man who helped a 68-year-old woman load a microwave into her car before allegedly stealing her purse.

The man approached the woman in the parking lot of Target, 405 SE Everett Mall Way, about 9:45 p.m. Monday, Everett police Sgt. Boyd Bryant said Tuesday. The man put the microwave in her car, then allegedly grabbed her purse from the trunk, he said.

The woman chased him and tried to grab her purse but was knocked down, Bryant said. She hit her head on the pavement but was not seriously hurt.

The man was seen leaving in a gray van from the west side of the parking lot. Officers searched the area but could not find him.

Edmonds: Teen dies after one-car accident

A 17-year-old Woodway youth died Tuesday following a one-car accident Saturday.

The boy, whose name was not released Tuesday, hit a tree in the 10400 block of 226th Street SW. He was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, where he died early Tuesday.

The teen lost control of his BMW M3 at the intersection of Highway 104 and 226th Street SW, Edmonds police Sgt. Jeff Jones said.

The car spun around and the back end struck a large tree south of the street.

Witnesses reported that the car was speeding prior to the accident, Jones said. Police are investigating the cause of the crash.
