SUTHERLIN, Ore. — Police recovered a stolen antique slot machine worth $4,000 after one of the alleged thieves asked his insurance company to cover damage done to his vehicle.
The slot machine was reported stolen in a home burglary on Monday evening, according to Douglas County deputies.
Deputies learned the victim’s housekeeper told authorities someone threw a piece of sheet metal through the window. It turned out to be from the back of the stolen slot machine.
Deputies said the housekeeper’s husband, Danny Brand, 30, of Roseburg, stole the slot machine, which tipped over as he drove off, breaking the window.
He asked her to report the damage so insurance would cover it, deputies said.
