LAKE STEVENS — The Lake Stevens City Council on Monday continued until June 4 its vote on whether to increase the salaries of future council members.
The council decided to continue the vote because councilman Glenn McLoughlin was called to another meeting in Granite Falls and wasn’t present Monday. McLoughlin has been a passionate spokesman on the topic of pay raises.
If approved, the monthly stipend for council members will increase 40 percent, from $215 a month to $300. If approved, the pay increase only applies to newly elected council members, not those currently serving.
