SPOKANE — A Spokane police officer was working an extra-duty security detail when he noticed that a man walking past him had cash falling out of his pockets. Connecting the dots with a recent bank robbery call he’d heard over the police radio, Officer Shane Phillips detained the man and called for backup.

A police spokeswoman, Officer Teresa Fuller, says the arrest came less than four minutes after a Wells Fargo branch robbery was reported Thursday.

Fuller says Jerrod Bestrom, 37, was booked into the Spokane County Jail for investigation of first-degree robbery.
