MILL CREEK — Police arrested a man near Mill Creek on Wednesday after he was accused of stabbing a woman.
Around 9:30 a.m., Snohomish County sheriff’s deputies responded to reports of an assault at an apartment in the 17700 block of Bothell Everett Highway, sheriff’s office spokesperson Courtney O’Keefe said. They found a woman in her 30s with multiple stab wounds. Deputies got her out of the apartment.
Medics took the woman to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, where she remained Wednesday afternoon with life-threatening injuries, O’Keefe said.
After authorities took the woman out of the apartment, the suspect, a 45-year-old man, barricaded himself in the apartment, the spokesperson said. A SWAT team negotiated with him for several hours.
Around 2 p.m., the SWAT team entered the apartment and arrested the suspect in the stabbing without further incident. The man’s injuries were believed to be self-inflicted. He was taken to the hospital.
This was the second SWAT standoff in as many days in the county, after a Granite Falls man barricaded inside his home after he allegedly shot and killed a former friend.
