OLYMPIA — Police in Olympia say a passer-by found a man’s remains in a heavily wooded area.
The skeletal remains found Thursday were clothed and partly covered with a blanket. They were found under a tree.
Thurston County Coroner Gary Warnock told The Olympian that investigators found a wallet with identification and cash. He adds the man was in his 50s.
Police said there are no obvious signs of foul play. The cause of death is unknown.
Warnock said a King County medical examiner’s office forensic anthropologist will try to determine how long the remains had been at the spot and whether the man suffered trauma.
