BREMERTON — A tenacious police dog and a telltale mullet haircut left no doubt among Kitsap County sheriff’s deputies that a 28-year-old local man was the person who walked into a neighbor’s home uninvited Saturday morning.
A 22-year-old Port Orchard resident called 911 at just after midnight to report that “a man with a mullet” had walked into his home uninvited and wouldn’t leave his property, according to reports.
The resident told deputies he had invited some friends over to his new place. The man with a mullet and his friend walked up to the house with a case of beer and asked if they could party with them.
The resident said no and the men left on foot. Ten minutes later, the man with the mullet returned and pushed his way into the home. He shoved the resident aside and entered the living room, trying to mingle with the people inside, according to police reports.
The group of people blocked and pushed the man, who according to the reports was drunk. The unwanted visitor came back, claiming to be a sheriff’s deputy. The resident locked all his doors and windows to prevent the man from coming inside.
When deputies arrived, they used a police dog to track the man. They found him sitting outside his home not far away.
The man said he had just wanted to say “hi” to his new neighbors and denied going inside the house. Later, he acknowledged he went inside, but said he didn’t push anyone. Then he recanted, saying he never went inside, according to reports.
He was arrested on suspicion of burglary and taken to Kitsap County jail. He’s being held on $25,000 bail.
