OLYMPIA — Olympia municipal employees are getting ready to move into the new $36 million, four-story City Hall that will hold its grand opening March 26.
The Olympian reports the most common interior features are 8-by-8-foot cubicles, including some for workers who currently have offices. Project Manager Rick Dougherty says there are so many cubicles, a white noise generator will be used to muffle private conversations.
City spokeswoman Cathie Butler says the new City Hall consolidates workers now spread out in a dozen buildings.
The new building features a two-story lobby and City Council chambers with seating for 100. Police and planning departments fill out the building.
The jail remains at the current City Hall.
