SNOHOMISH — A man died Monday after crashing head-on into a cement truck, causing a three-vehicle crash on Highway 9, according to the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office.
Around 4:30 p.m., the man, 61, was driving north on Highway 9 when he crossed the center line and hit the cement truck, sheriff’s spokesperson Courtney O’Keefe said. The truck lost control and sideswiped a third car in the oncoming lane, she said.
Deputies found the man deceased at the scene. The two other drivers had minor injuries.
The crash closed Highway 9 for hours as traffic used detours at Second Avenue and Bickford Avenue.
Detectives were still investigating the cause of the crash Wednesday, but didn’t believe drugs or alcohol were involved.
This is the 14th serious collision the sheriff’s office has responded to this year, O’Keefe said.
