LYNNWOOD — An attempted traffic stop led to a car crash and search near a few schools Wednesday morning.
The Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office searched for a 24-year-old Lynnwood man in the area of Larch Way and 178th St. SW who reportedly fled the traffic stop on his motorcycle.
The motorcyclist swerved around a truck and collided with a car in the oncoming lane, and then ran away, the sheriff’s office said.
That area was shut down to traffic. Nearby are Martha Lake Elementary School, Alderwood Middle School, and Lynnwood High School. The elementary and middle schools were placed in a modified lockdown procedure.
The sheriff’s office said containment was set up and police dogs were used to look for the suspect. A husband and wife, whose car was struck by the motorcycle, were hurt in the crash and taken to a hospital.
Containment of the area was called off around 10 a.m. after deputies were unable to find the suspect. The part of Larch Way where the crash occurred was closed so it could be investigated.
