PUYALLUP — Freezing weather complicated the work of firefighters at a two-alarm fire that burned the Hagen’s Auto Parts store early today in Puyallup.

They were slipping and sliding on ice and called public works employees to spray deicer on the ground.

The fire was reported by a passer-by about 3:30 a.m. Firefighters were still putting out hot spots at dawn.

There were no injuries, and there is no word yet on the cause.

The two-story building with flammable and hazardous chemicals inside was

too dangerous for Central Pierce Fire and Rescue firefighters to enter when they arrived so they poured water on the flames from outside.

Hagen’s is known for stocking rare and hard-to-find auto parts.
