U.S. Sen. Henry M. “Scoop” Jackson would be the principal speaker for the annual Columbus Day banquet of the Everett Knights of Columbus. Thomas Gable was the banquet chairman.
Continuing honors that had been pouring in on Future Farmers of America judging teams of Snohomish County high schools this year, Lake Stevens High School’s team won first place over 40 other squads in the Carnation contest on dairy judging. Members of the team were advisor Tom Straka, Parker Fowlds, Ted Becker and Arnold Hendrickson.
25 years ago (1982)
U.S. Sen. Henry M. “Scoop” Jackson would be the speaker at a Smokey Point Chamber of Commerce luncheon at the Stillaguamish Senior Center. The event was a “public thank you” for organizations including the Red Cross, police agencies and volunteer fire departments, chamber spokeswoman Diana McKibben said.
