50 years ago (1963)

Airman Dale M. Bornkamp, son of Mr. and Mrs. Merle Lee, 3707 Rockefeller Ave., was assigned to Fairchild AFB hear Spokane for training and duty as a fuel specialist, it was announced from Lackland AFB, Texas, where he underwent basic training.

Sixth graders of Hawthorne School came back home this morning — back to their home school. They had been walking to Garfield School for their regular classes. Their seven-classroom addition was opened, but still incomplete.

25 years ago (1988)

Not anticipating a full house at the Everett Civic Auditorium, the Everett Symphony management asked members of the large enthusiastic audience to share printed programs. The also were sharing the excitement of the opening of the orchestra’s 50th season.

It was easy to see why Mrs. Chester, a 1930s resident, came up with the idea of calling her community Clearview, with the mountain views east and west. Bill Kuempel, who had called Clearview home for 35 years, said that the rural area had changed as more people moving into the area were involved in the booming technology corridor service industry.
