EVERETT — A pilot survived a single-engine airplane crash around 9 a.m. Tuesday near Paine Field.
The pilot was the only occupant of the Cessna Skyhawk. Moments after leaving the runway, the pilot sensed trouble and made a 360 degree turn in an attempt to return to the runway. The pilot could not maintain control and there was “a low-impact crash into a wooded area just east of the taxiway,” according to a report from the Paine Field Fire Department.
He was able to walk away from the crash, Snohomish County spokesman Kent Patton said.
The Federal Aviation Administration will investigate the crash. The FAA was expected to inspect the aircraft Wednesday morning.
