EVERETT —The Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office received an award Sunday for its efforts to improve traffic safety, and the safety of its officers.
Sheriff Ty Trenary and Undersheriff Rob Beidler accepted the Officer Traffic Safety award in Washington, D.C.
In the last year, the sheriff’s office included new traffic safety elements in training programs, established a monthly driving review board and prohibited unauthorized vehicle pursuits, according to a press release.
“We are honored and humbled to have been selected for this award,” Trenary said. “Our top priority is employee and community safety and we are going to do everything we can to ensure everyone gets home safely every night.”
The Officer Traffic Safety award was presented by Destination Zero, an initiative sponsored by the National Law Enforcement Officer Memorial Fund.
