“Hopefully, this is the last page and last chapter in the Colton Harris-Moore story,” a judge said when the “Barefoot Bandit” pleaded guilty to the last charge against him.
But we all knew it wouldn’t be. To recap, he was a 6-foot-5 teenage burglar who regarded footwear as optional and eluded local police for months before stealing planes and fleeing to the Bahamas. It’s the kind of thing Hollywood would dream up, and now a movie is in the works.
In our latest poll at HeraldNet.com, we asked who should be the leading man-child. We gave you a few choices drawn from a list of hot young actors at Girlterest.com, a website that uses copious amounts of pink.
Zac Efron easily beat out Liam Hemsworth and Robert Pattinson as the top choice in our poll, although that might not tell us much. A quick Google search reveals that many people would like to watch Efron read the phone book.
Out of a couple hundred write-in votes, one emerged as the most popular: “Nobody,” or variations such as “don’t glorify him.” Apparently it still rubs a little raw that he frightened and endangered a lot of people during his crime spree.
The next most common write-in was Colton himself. Nobody knew he could fly an airplane until he tried it, so who knows? Maybe he can act. As the TV show “Supergirl” demonstrates every week, there’s not much skill involved in acting.
But sadly, Colton is indisposed, at least until the latter part of this decade. Hollywood will probably get to work sooner than that.
With good behavior, maybe he’ll be out in time to catch a matinee.
