Those promoting a regional fire authority in south Snohomish County have set a tentative timeline for their efforts.
Committee leaders are aiming to finish their vision statement by next month. They hope to have a financial plan in place by January.
If everything goes as planned, the fire authority would be ready for a public vote in a little more than two years. The fire authority is being explored as an alternative to splitting fire protection services among city fire departments and fire districts.
The planning committee includes representatives from Brier, Edmonds, Lynnwood, Mill Creek, Mountlake Terrace, Mukilteo and Woodway, along with Snohomish County Fire Districts 1 and 7. Many of them are participating to watch what happens rather than committing to the idea.
